ABOUT ME

Mick Moran

I graduated from Royal College of Surgeons Ireland with a 1st Class Honours BSc Degree in Physiotherapy in 2020. Since then, I have worked in a large Dublin teaching hospital working in Musculoskeletal Outpatients, Elective and Trauma Orthopaedics, ICU and Surgical, Medical Respiratory, Neurology and Older Person Rehabilitation (an area I really enjoy). During this time, I ran exercise classes for various patient groups. In total, I have worked ten years in the public health system, both as a carer and as a physiotherapist.
My clinical interests include older person rehabilitation, chronic pain, neurological rehabilitation, and physical preparation... particularly the effects of resistance training and the transfer of training.
My reading at the moment is covering a wide range of musculoskeletal, rheumatological and neurological conditions in preparation for being a physiotherapist in the community setting.
I have a curiosity and deep respect for all sports, but rugby is my passion and has been from a very young age. Many moons ago, I played scrum-half and captain for the Leinster Youths and scrum-half for the Irish Youths.
Nowadays, I enjoy weightlifting and cycling. Getting out on the bike as much as possible is what keeps me healthy and sane! I cycled the Tour de France route in August and September of 2010 and loved every minute of it; even the haute category climbs!
At home, five children, four hens, one dog and a loving partner keep me busy and they are my world.
